App Directory is a feature inside EdTech Manager that lets you publish a public list of your district's approved apps for teachers, parents, and the wider community. You can share it as a standalone public URL, or embed it directly into your district's own website via an iframe.
How do I create an App Directory?
Create an App Directory in EdTech Manager > Settings by choosing which apps or App Groups and supporting details you want included. Once you select Publish, EdTech Manager generates a public URL plus an iframe embed code so you can seamlessly display the directory in your web page, emailers, or intranet sites.
You can create multiple directories and edit, archive, or re-copy links whenever you need to. See: Create an App Directory in EdTech Manager.
Can I add any app to my App Directory?
You can only add apps with the Approved status in your district to a directory. To check where an app stands:
- Check its status. If it's not there, you can request it via the Add License page in License Management.
- If the app shows up in Applications View with a status other than "Approved," it won't be available for your App Directory.
Where does the App Directory actually run?
App Directory is entirely web-based and lives inside your existing EdTech Manager admin console. The published directory itself is a public web page, which works on any device with a browser. Access to your directory is public and doesn’t require logins.
Can I lock the directory down to certain people?
No, anyone with the link can view it. It’s not restricted to your school community or to just certain people. Keep that in mind when deciding what to include and how you share the link.
Can I match the directory to our district's branding?
The public-facing page uses neutral, unbranded styling by design, so you can embed the directory into your district-branded page.
Does the App Directory change the approval process in EdTech Manager?
No, approving apps within EdTech Manager remains the same. The App Directory only gives you a way to share your approved apps with the public. It also gives you a way to customize and track the list of apps you’ve shared with parents and teachers from a central location.
Troubleshooting
An app just disappeared from my directory. What happened?
If an app's approval status changes to anything other than "Approved," it automatically disappears from any directory it’s part of.
My public link isn't loading. What's wrong?
Check the directory's publish status. If it's inactive or archived, the link simply won't work.
Anything else I should be careful of?
A couple of things worth knowing:
- Only approved apps ever appear. Blocked, flagged, or pending apps never show up, and there's currently no way for viewers to see why an app isn't listed.
- Directory data updates automatically from live EdTech Manager approval data. This means changing an approved app’s status removes it from the directory. Before changing an app’s status, make sure to check if it’s part of any App Directory.
